Goshen City Cemeteries is pleased to announce the debut of a new service to the public. Anyone can now use their computer or mobile device to locate a burial at Oakridge Cemetery.

The link can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the Cemeteries page on the City website: goshenindiana.org/cemeteries. There is also a QR code posted on the Oakridge shop door that will take you straight to the web application. The service uses GIS technology and was created in partnership with the Goshen Engineering Department.

Director of Cemeteries, Burt Matteson comments “One thing we have really wanted to do is make burial information more available to the public. Right now people have to catch up with a sexton during business hours. We have been studying ways to do this and many of the options were costly or didn’t do exactly what we wanted. After talking with our own Engineering Department, we realized that the resources to do this were already here in the City. We at Cemeteries are grateful for the time Engineering personnel have invested in this project.”

A timeline is being developed to provide the same service for Violett and West Goshen cemeteries.
