Who do I contact regarding trash pick-up?

You do not need to register for trash collection service within Goshen city limits; Borden Waste-Away will collect automatically on a designated day. Simply place trash in the alley, or on the curb if you do not have an alley, by 7 a.m. on the day of pickup; cans must be returned from the alley/curb to the regular storage area the evening of pick up.

Check with a neighbor about collection days, or residents may contact the City Hall receptionist about pickup schedules for your area by calling 533.8621 during regular business hours. You may call Borden at 574.293.5001 to order a 96-gal. cart. Click here for more information about trash pickup.

Where can I dispose eletronic waste?

A new law took effect January 1, 2011, regarding the disposal of electronic waste.  The new law prohibits Indiana households, schools and businesses from mixing electronic waste with loads of trash and refuse going to landfills (Indiana Code 12-20.5-10).  Goodwill has been taking electronic waste.  Please contact them for clarification of electronics they will accept.

Forms are available in the Mayors office, Water & Sewer Utilities Billing Office, or Clerk Treasurer’s Office. For information and requirements please contact the County Voter Registration office at 535-6774 (Republican) or 535-6775 (Democrat).

The phone number for the local office of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles is 533-4763. Closed Mondays.

Where do I get information about becoming a citizen?

Where do I pay my property taxes?

Payments are to be made at the Elkhart County Treasurer's Office, located at 117 N 2nd St., Goshen, IN 46528. Also, check with your bank.

Where can I get a copy of a birth or death certificate?

Contact Elkhart County Vital Records at 535-6786.

How do I contact the unemployment office?

The number for Workforce Development (unemployment insurance) is 295-0105.

There are stray animals in my yard. Who do I call?

Contact the Elkhart County Humane Society. The number is 848-4225.

How do I contact the local Social Security office?

The local Social Security office is located at 231 Waterfall Drive in Elkhart, IN. The number is 1-866-426-0532. Hours are Monday thru Friday, 9:00 am - 3:30 pm.
