City offices will remain open on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019. The City Council meeting for Tuesday(usually scheduled for the first and third Tuesday of the month) is canceled for Nov. 5. The next council meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Goshen City courtroom.

RESCHEDULED: BOARD OF WORKS

The Monday, November 11 Board of Works meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, November 12 at 2 p.m., due to the Veterans’ Day holiday. the meeting will be held at the city court building, 111 E. Jefferson St.
9TH STREET CORRIDOR OPENING CEREMONY AND BIKE RIDE
Join us in celebrating the grand opening of the 9th Street Corridor Bike and Pedestrian Trail Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, 11 a.m., at Water Tower Park. Refreshments will be provided, and a brief ceremony with a project overview and acknowledgements will be held, followed by a community bike ride.
In case of inclement weather: The ceremony will be held at the Parks & Recreation offices, 524 E. Jackson St. on the same date and time. The bike ride will be canceled.
FREE TRANSIT FARES ON ELECTION DAY

The Interurban Trolley, serving the City of Elkhart and the City of Goshen will provide free public transit rides on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, 2019, to help residents reach several polling sites. The Interurban Trolley will operate during its normal hours; 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM, although the Interurban Trolley information office will be closed for the Election Day Holiday. Route information can be obtained by calling: (574) 674-8894 or at www.interurbantrolley.com.
In addition, free rides will also be provided by Transpo, but only on the buses that operate on the Yellow Line. Regular fares will be charged on all other Transpo routes.
Interurban Trolley Access Riders who have ADA cards may ride free to any destination on Election Day, as a comparable service benefit.

ROAD CLOSURE: MONROE STREET
The Elkhart County Fairgrounds and contractor Beer and Slabaugh will be extending a water main across Monroe Street by Gate 3 at the fairgrounds.
This will require a road closure on Monroe Street starting Monday, Oct. 28 and until Monday, Nov. 8, 2019.
Detour for eastbound traffic will be Monroe to Blackport Drive to Lincoln Avenue (SR 4) to CR 29 to Monroe.
TRICK OR TREAT
Trick or treat hours for the City of Goshen will be Thursday, Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Trick or treat Main Street, an event organized by the Chamber of Commerce, will be Thursday, Oct. 31, from noon to 5 p.m., in downtown Goshen.
RAILROAD CROSSING CLOSURE: KERCHER ROAD
Norfolk Southern Railroad will close the Railroad crossing on Kercher Road between CR 31 & CR 33, due to a broken rail. They will close it around 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 and expect it to be reopened later that evening, unless delayed by the weather.
OCTOBER COMMUNITY CONVERSATION FOCUSES ON LEADERSHIP
The second community conversation hosted by the Community Relations Commission and Goshen Community Schools will take place Thursday, October 24 at Schrock Pavilion in Shanklin Park, 411 W. Plymouth Ave.
The conversation is titled How Goshen Grows: Balancing Power and Raising up Leaders.
This conversation will address leadership and power in the Goshen community. Participants will have the opportunity to speak into successful balances of power and how that is created, as well as look at challenges to equalized power. How does one access power and how does the community grow capacity and leadership to provide opportunities for shared power?

ROAD CLOSURE: 9TH STREET
9th Street will be closed between Waverly and College avenues from Monday, October 14 until Wednesday, October 16 to allow the utilities department to install a catch basin to fix a drainage issue.
