NOTE: This is an update to an earlier press release regarding leaf collection
With expected snow coming in a few days, the Street Department is moving their pickup dates to finish sooner.
Street Commissioner Denny Long said the crews will finish the northwest side tomorrow Wednesday, Dec. 7. He asks residents who live on the northwest side to stop raking after tomorrow.
The crews will continue their work on the southeast side Thursday and expect to wrap up in a few days. They will soon be working to clear our roads from the snow.
For those who have yet to rake this year, leaves can be bagged and taken to the Environmental Center, which is located near the intersection of Indiana Avenue and C.R. 19.
We thank you for your support and your help cleaning up the leaves this year. The Street Department will return in the spring to do a spring leaf collection.
The City of Goshen’s Street Department is wrapping up its 2016 leaf collection for the fall season.
Residents who live north of the railroad tracks and west of the Millrace Canal should place their leaf piles on the curb the weekend before Monday, December 5. The Street Department will be collecting leaves on the northwest side of town from December 5 through December 9.
Residents who live south of the tracks and east of the Millrace Canal are to place their leaf piles on the curb the weekend before Monday, December 12, as the Street Department will collect leaves on the southeast side of the city from December 12 through December 16.
After December 16, the Street Department will stop collecting leaves. Street Commissioner Denny Long said he is aware many leaves remain on trees even this late in the year, but the Street Department must begin preparing for snow removal.
As a reminder, residents should not place bagged leaves on the curb to be collected by trash pickup. Republic Services does not collect leaves –including those mixed with garbage – any time of the year.
For those who may have yard waste beyond the upcoming collection weeks, the Environmental Center, located near the intersection of Indiana Avenue and County Road 19, is free to Goshen residents and is open 52 weeks a year. During the winter they are open 8 a.m. through 4 p.m. and closed on weekends. The Environmental Center accepts brush and leaves, loose or in bags, at no charge for Goshen residents.
