The westbound lane of Monroe Street will be closed to traffic beginning Wednesday, Aug. 30 from Logan Street to the railroad tracks. Additionally the southbound lane of Logan street will be closed between Lincoln Avenue and Monroe Street.
The new closures will allow the contractor to install grouting tubes and install grout between the railroad beds to stabilize the sandy soil.
Monroe Street may temporarily be back open to traffic by Sept. 22, before being closed again in the future to allow for a final boring operation to take place beneath the Monroe Street tracks.
The goal is to be finished with the railroad borings at Cottage Avenue, Logan Street and Monroe Street before the end of October.
