MAYOR STUTSMAN AND GOSHEN PARKS DEPARTMENT THANK LIPPERT COMPONENTS FOR SERVICE

On Saturday, April 22, Goshen’s parks and trails were bustling with 800 Lippert Components, Inc. staff members tackling service projects as part of the company’s Community Day. Lippert’s team removed invasive species, tree trimming, brush removal, weeding, painting, planting flowers and landscaping.

Tanya Heyde, superintendent of the Parks and Recreation Department, said the volunteer groups showed up armed with equipment, trucks, radios, shovels, wheelbarrows and rakes, and hit the ground running from the moment work started.

Among all the activities performed, the volunteers:

• Mulched Tommy’s Kids Castle using two semi-truck loads of mulch
• Planted 340 trees along the Educational Greenway
• Removed masses of invasive species at Abshire Park
• Improved landscaped areas
• Completed spring cleanup in landscape beds, trees and along trails

“It was truly amazing to see such production unfold on Saturday morning,” Heyde said. “We received not only a jump start on readying these areas for the season, but also gained in resources more time to devote to projects that we may not have otherwise had the opportunity to.”

Mayor Jeremy Stutsman commended Lippert Components for the service they provided the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, saying this is one of the many local entities leading by example during Goshen’s Year of Goodness.

“The community of Goshen thrives because we have so many great people and businesses which believe in the value of volunteering,” he said. “I am so thankful to all the employees of Lippert Components who participated with this day of community outreach. To say Goshen is thankful seems an understatement. Being a recipient of such service is awesome and this community is better because of it.”
