The Goshen Fire Department protects life and property through emergency response, fire prevention, and public safety education.
With three stations and over 60 personnel, the department provides fire suppression, advanced life support, rescue, and hazardous materials response throughout Goshen.
The department leads public outreach and education programs, including CPR training, fire extinguisher use, and emergency preparedness presentations.
Personnel conduct inspections and plan reviews to ensure buildings meet local and state safety codes.
With three pumpers, a ladder truck, reserve pumper, rescue truck and a boat, GFD responds to more than 6,000 emergency calls each year and trains regularly to maintain high performance standards.
Fire Chief Anthony Powell leads the department that is dispatched out of the Elkhart County Dispatch Center, and supports citywide emergency planning and disaster coordination.

Chief Danny Sink Regional Training Facility
Named in honor of former Fire Chief Dan Sink, this facility serves as the department’s primary training center. It supports ongoing firefighter education, live-fire exercises, and specialized rescue training, ensuring personnel are prepared for diverse emergency scenarios.
RedHawk Fire Academy
In partnership with Goshen Community Schools, the RedHawk Fire Academy offers high school students hands-on training for careers in fire service. The two-year program, housed at the Chandler Education Center, allows students to earn certifications through Ivy Tech, preparing them for immediate employment as firefighters or EMTs upon graduation.
Fire Extinguisher Training
GFD offers extinguisher training using the BullEx Live-Fire Training System. Training meets OSHA and Indiana Fire Code standards. Call 574-533-7878 or visit Fire Extinguisher Training for details.

Car Seat Inspections
The Goshen Fire and Police Departments do not have certified child seat technicians. For inspections, contact the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department at 574-891-2300.

EMS Bill Payment
The department accepts debit or credit cards for EMS billing. A $2.50 fee applies to transactions under $67.00. A 3.95% fee applies to charges over $67.00. Payments may be made online or delivered to:
