Downtown Economic Improvement District

The Downtown Economic Improvement District strengthens downtown Goshen by uniting property owners to fund projects that benefit local businesses and visitors. Created by ordinance, the district coordinates capital improvements, maintenance, and events that make the city’s core a vibrant destination.

Through annual assessments, property owners support initiatives such as enhanced parking, decorative lighting, holiday displays, and streetscape upgrades. Funds also help provide snow removal, weed control, and festival programming that draw residents and tourists alike.

The district operates under the guidance of a five-member board made up of business and property representatives. This board sets priorities, manages budgets, and ensures funds are used for projects that add visible value to the Main Street corridor. By focusing on business recruitment, retention, and downtown beautification, the Economic Improvement District plays a vital role in sustaining Goshen’s historic and cultural heart while building a strong economic future.

When and where does the Downtown Economic Improvement District meet?

Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 a.m. inside Council Chambers of the Police & Courts Building, 111 E. Jefferson St.
