Why does Goshen flush hydrants at night?

Hydrant flushing moves large amounts of water through the system to clear rust and sediment. Overnight flushing reduces disruption for homes and businesses, avoids traffic congestion, and allows water pressure to recover before peak morning use.

Why does Goshen flush hydrants?

Hydrant flushing clears rust, sediment, and minerals from water lines. It also ensures hydrants work properly for fire protection.

Is my water safe during flushing?

What should I do if my laundry gets stained?

If laundry is discolored during flushing, contact Goshen Utilities at 574-534-5306. Staff will provide special soap to remove stains.

How often does the City flush hydrants?

Goshen Utilities flushes hydrants twice each year, in the spring and fall, to maintain water quality and system reliability.
