PHOTOS: Fantastic Fishing Derby Makes a Splash at Fidler Pond
Young anglers gathered at Fidler Pond Park on Saturday, June 7, 2025 for Goshen’s annual Fantastic Fishing Derby.
Kids ages 3 to 16 competed for prizes in each age group. Each catch brought excitement, whether it was large or small.
The derby gave families a fun, relaxed way to enjoy the outdoors together. Some reeled in prize-winning fish, while others made lasting memories.

VIDEO: Goshen’s RedHawk Fire Academy Ignites Career Paths for Students
The City of Goshen and Goshen Community Schools launched the RedHawk Fire Academy program in 2024 after a conversation between Mayor Gina Leichty and Fire Chief Anthony Powell. That exchange sparked a bold vision. They set out to give students hands-on training and a path to certification and careers in emergency services.
“I feel like learning these skill has improved my life,” said senior Tyler Barkey said. “I definitely recommend it for anybody else.”
