Who is ‘The Poultry Princess?’ Find out Tuesday

GOSHEN, Ind. — One of Indiana’s top poultry disease experts is returning to Goshen to help residents keep their backyard flocks healthy.

Dr. Patricia Wakenell, a retired professor from Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, will lead a free Lunch & Learn on Tuesday, May 20, at the Rieth Interpretive Center. The session will run from noon to 1 p.m. and is open to the public.

Wakenell, widely known as “The Poultry Princess,” will focus on how to prevent and recognize Avian Influenza (Bird Flu), how the disease spreads, and what practical steps flock owners can take to protect their birds.

The informal session is geared toward both new and experienced chicken keepers and offers a chance to hear directly from one of the state’s most experienced poultry veterinarians.

No registration is required. For more information, contact the Rieth Interpretive Center at 574-534-0076.
