While last year’s Elkhart County 4-H Fair Parade included a detour around downtown Goshen construction, this year’s route is back to the usual.
The parade, set for Sunday, July 22, will once again begin at Linway Plaza, moving east along Lincoln Avenue, then south on Main Street and east on Madison Street, before a short jog south on U.S. 33 to take Monroe Street east to the fairgrounds.
City engineers will allow parade floats to travel through the new U.S. 33 and Madison Street intersection during the parade. However, no spectators will be allowed in that area from Madison Street and 10th Street to where the parade turns from U.S. 33 to Monroe Street due to construction zones.
Want to skip the parade and get to the fair’s other Sunday offerings? Or hurry to the fairgrounds’ covered grandstand to watch the parade? Take the newer south entrance to the fair, entering off of College Avenue/C.R. 36 just east of Goshen city limits.
Floats and other parade entries will start down the parade route from Linway Plaza at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, July 22, and should begin their pass by the grandstands at about 2:15 p.m.
For years, the Elkhart County 4-H Fair Parade has boasted more than 100 parade entries, including 4-H clubs, community organizations, marching bands, and more. There is still time to apply to join the parade here. Applications are due July 17.
