GOSHEN, Ind. — Goshen fall leaf and brush pickup will begin Oct. 6 after a one-week delay caused by a paving project.
Leaf collection will run from Oct. 6 through mid-December, weather permitting. Crews will follow a rotating route across the city. There is no set schedule.
Residents should prepare piles carefully to help crews complete work safely and on time. Following guidelines also helps prevent equipment damage:
How to Prepare Leaf Piles
- Rake leaves into long piles on grass within 6 feet of the curb.
- Do not place leaves in streets or alleys.
- Leave sidewalks clear for pedestrians.
- Keep piles away from hydrants, mailboxes and storm drains. Clear drains to prevent flooding.
- Spray piles with water to reduce blowing during high winds.
- Keep leaf and brush piles separate. Brush damages vacuum equipment.
What Not to Include
- Do not add sticks, twigs, other brush clippings or trash. These items damage machines and delay pickup.
- Bagged leaves will be collected, but crews will empty bags and leave bags behind.
Parking Tips
- Never park on top of leaf piles. Hot exhaust systems can cause fires.
- Do not block piles with vehicles. Crews need 15 feet of clearance.
- Use off-street parking when possible.
Goshen Fall Leaf and Brush Pickup: Brush Collection
Brush collection will run Oct. 6-10. Crews will collect brush piles placed at the curb during this one-week window.
Only brush is accepted. Do not mix in trash, lumber, fencing or landscaping timbers. Non-brush items may delay service.
Brush Trailer Program
The Brush Trailer program continues year-round, weather permitting.
Goshen residents can reserve a free brush trailer by calling the Street Department at 574-534-9711.
Homeowners can use trailers to dispose of large brush piles from trimming work. The City prohibits contractors and landscapers.
Trailers are delivered between 2 to 3 p.m. and collected the next weekday after 7 a.m. Weekend deliveries occur Friday afternoon.
