Hackett Road and Johnston Street Closed for Repairs: What Drivers Need to Know

GOSHEN, Ind. — The Goshen Board of Works approved a major street improvement project set to begin Monday, July 7, and continue through Thursday, Aug. 1. The work will bring significant upgrades to Hackett Road and Johnston Street, located just north of downtown, and will require road closures and traffic detours during construction.

Project Scope

Crews will install new stormwater infrastructure, upgrade concrete curbs and sidewalks, and fully remove and replace asphalt on Hackett Road. A section of Johnston Street will undergo partial asphalt removal. Niblock will handle milling and repaving for both streets.

Traffic Closures and Detours

The intersection of Hackett Road and Johnston Street will close completely. Residents, Moose Lodge patrons, nearby businesses, and visitors to Green Oaks Assisted Living will need to access the area via Wilden Avenue to Michigan Avenue, then Johnston Street.

Access to businesses along Hackett Road and the eastern portion of Johnston Street will be limited throughout the project. A Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan is available for reference.

Plan Ahead

Drivers should allow extra travel time, follow posted detour signs, and use caution in construction zones. The City appreciates the public’s patience as crews complete these improvements.
