GOSHEN Ind. (Oct. 25, 2016) – Mayor Jeremy Stutsman is pleased to announce that the City of Goshen has hired Leslie Biek as the City’s new Civil Traffic Engineer, filling the position vacated by civil engineer Mary Cripe.

As a right-of-way engineer for the City of Elkhart over the last 10 years, Biek has worked on a variety of projects, including the Prairie Street overpass, several phases of the Main Street streetscape and the Richmond Bike Path on the south side of the city.

Biek said that while she is sad to leave Elkhart’s engineering team, she looks forward to begin her work in Goshen.

“I’m very excited to join the Goshen engineering team,” she said. “They have a lot of exciting things going on right now and I’m looking forward to jumping right in.”

Mayor Stutsman said he is happy to have found an experienced engineer who can continue to move the city forward during a time of multiple construction projects.

“It is very encouraging to know we have found an experienced and qualified engineer,” Mayor Stutsman said. “Leslie is going to fit right in, and I am excited she will be part of my administration. I am looking forward to seeing what new ideas she will have for Goshen to continue building a community we can all be proud to call home.”
City Utilities engineer Dustin Sailor said he too looks forward to working with Biek.

“Goshen engineering staff is pleased to accept Leslie into our group, and are excited about what she has to offer our community,” Sailor said.

In order to maintain strong communication within the engineering department, Mayor Stutsman has decided to promote Sailor to oversee the department. This will keep direct communication lines open between all the different City projects and the departments that are involved in each project.

“I will continue to take steps to improve communications both within my administration and with the residents and businesses of Goshen,” Mayor Stutsman said. “Both Dustin and Leslie are key components to achieve this goal.”

Biek will begin working for the City of Goshen Nov. 1.
