PUBLIC INPUT SOUGHT FOR MAIN STREET DESIGN

Once the US 33 bridge is completed, and Madison Street is repaved in late summer, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will transfer ownership of Madison and Main streets to the City of Goshen. This project has been in the works for decades; its culmination will bring many great opportunities for the community, including the possibility of making Main Street more accessible and pedestrian-friendly.

The City is seeking input on how residents and business owners would like to see Main Street once the City takes ownership from INDOT. Due to the condition of the street surface, it will need to be re-paved regardless. Options being considered include narrowing the lanes down two travel lanes and adding angle parking. The City conducted its first public meeting to gather input on May 7 and would like to know what the public would like to see on Main Street. Comments will be accepted until June 1, 2018.
